Citing 鈥渓ower business volumes鈥� and the growing use of mobile, online and telephone banking, CIBC has confirmed it will be closing its Aldergrove branch at 3082 272md Street, just off Fraser Highway.
A CIBC statement issued in response to a 91原创 Advance Times query advised the Aldergrove banking centre will be merging with the bank鈥檚 South Fraser Way And Clearbrook Road banking centre in Abbotsford in May 2024.
Clients were notified in-person and by mail in November.
鈥淭he decision to close any of our banking centres is not taken lightly and we carefully consider all options before doing so,鈥� the statement said.
鈥淥ur Aldergrove Banking Centre has experienced lower business volumes for some time, and currently 94 per cent of all our client transactions take place outside of a banking centre, through mobile, online and telephone banking. As a result of this shift, we鈥檝e made adjustments to our network.鈥�

It is much the same reasons cited by RBC a few years go, when it announced its Aldergrove branch, just down the road at at 27510 Fraser Hwy. in the Countryside Shopping Centre, would be closing in 2021.
At the time, a statement issued to RBC clients cited an increase in online and mobile banking as reasons for the closure.
It shut down in April of 2021 and was merged with the 91原创 Main RBC branch at 19888 Willowbrook Drive.
Last year, G&F Financial Group moved into the former RBC premises at Countryside.

May 9 will be the last day of operations at the Aldergrove CIBC branch.

鈥淥ur CIBC team will spend time with clients in the coming months to inform them of the move, help them learn more about the convenient options that are available to them for their everyday banking, and answer any questions they may have about the transition.鈥�
