Surrey RCMP is recommending charges in connection with a series of seizures tied to a months-long investigation into a drug-trafficking network that was believed to be operating out of the city.

In a news release issued Thursday (July 11), police say large quantities of illicit drugs, illegal firearms and cash, as well as four vehicles, were confiscated beginning in October 2023, following investigation that launched two months prior.

The first search warrant was executed Oct. 17, in the 7400-block of 184 Street. Four additional searches were carried out on Jan. 31, 2024; two in Surrey (residences in the 19400-block of 68 Avenue and the 9100-block of 152 Street), and two in Coquitlam (a residence in the 2100-block of Kelly Avenue and a storage unit in the 1100-block of Kingsway Avenue).

"During the execution of the search warrants, four people were arrested and later released pending further investigation," the release states.

"Surrey RCMP Drug Unit is continuing to advance the investigation and will be submitting a report to Public Prosecution Service of Canada recommending charges."

Surrey RCMP Cpl.. Sarbjit Sangha said no information regarding the arrests or seizures was shared publicly until now as doing so could have jeopardized "parallel investigations."

Items seized included 2.5 kilograms of methamphetamine, 30 litres of GHB, 430 grams of fluorofentanyl, 1.5 kg of cocaine, $116,000 cash, six firearms, a bullet-proof vest, a 2024 Range Rover, a 2019 Acura RDX, a 2014 Dodge Durango and a 2004 Ford F250.

Sangha said it's believed the targeted group was supplying street-level traffickers throughout Surrey, 91原创 and Coquitlam.
