Games, music, and vendors are gathering together to celebrate Canada Day on Saturday, July 1 at the Aldergrove Athletic Park.

There will be inflatable games, bouncy castles, mini golf, exhibitor booths, and food trucks starting at 11 a.m.

Eric Woodward, mayor of 91原创 Township, said there will be something for everyone to enjoy.

鈥淥n behalf of Township of 91原创 council, I invite residents and visitors to join us in Aldergrove or Fort 91原创 to gather and connect as a community and celebrate Canada Day,鈥� he said.

Live entertainment will continue throughout the day, starting with Karima Essa performing a Bollywood dance.

A magic show by Norden the Magician starts at noon, followed by Wild Moccasin Dancers at 1 p.m. to lead into an official Canada Day ceremony.

It starts at 2:10 p.m. and will be emceed by Jim McGregor, followed by speeches and more.

Children鈥檚 entertainer Penny Pom Pom will pick up entertainment at 3 p.m., and Kunda African Culture Music and Dance will conclude the festivities at 4:15 p.m.

Kevin Muirhead, acting corporate events manager at the 91原创 Township, said he hopes it will be a fun time since the Township is back to hosting two Canada Day events 鈥� the other will be in Fort 91原创.

鈥淚t鈥檚 about bringing community together to celebrate,鈥� he said.

Last year, the Township only held a Canada Day event in Fort 91原创 as it adjusted to lifting pandemic restrictions. In 2021, a virtual ceremony was held online, and it was cancelled in 2020.

Muirhead said the live entertainment was chosen to celebrate the diversity that is in Canada, as well as in 91原创.

Aldergrove Elks will also be at the park with a free selfie-booth.

Aldergrove Athletic Park is located at 26845 27th Ave.

The Royal Canadian Legion鈥檚 Aldergrove branch will also have celebrations inside and outside throughout the day starting at noon, including live music and games, with food and birthday cake.

The legion is located at 26607 Fraser Hwy.

This year marks Canada鈥檚 156th birthday.
