Candidate Shelly Jan withdraws from race in 91原创-Abbotsford riding

Independent Shelly Jan has withdrawn her candidacy in 91原创-Abbotsford, although her name will still appear on the voting ballots during the election, according to Elections BC. 

Her departure was confirmed Tuesday, Oct. 1, by Elections BC. 

Ballot printing began on Sept. 29 and was completed before Jan withdrew, so her name will still appear on the ballot. 

A candidate can withdraw from an election anytime up until 48 hours before the start of advance voting, reads the announcement. 

"Election officials will inform voters at voting places in 91原创-Abbotsford that Shelly Jan has withdrawn as a candidate. There will also be signage at voting places announcing this withdrawal." 

Advance voting begins Thursday, Oct. 10. 

Five candidates running in 91原创-Abbotsford are NDP John Aldag, BC Conservative Party Harman Bhangu, independent Karen Long, and BC Green Party Melissa Snazell. 

Election day is Oct. 19. Advance voting will take place Oct. 10-13, and 15-16.
