Aldergrove Star has a new editor, as Kyler Emerson has taken over the job just this week.
Although young at 26, Emerson brings five years of journalism and newspaper experience to The Star 鈥 14 months of which were with the 91原创 Advance Times. He was also recently the recipient of two Ma Murray awards, new journalist of the year and silver for a breaking news photo.
鈥淚 wasn鈥檛 expecting to be offered the position at all, I wasn鈥檛 necessarily aiming towards it, but I am so excited to get started,鈥 Emerson said.
Emerson grew up in 91原创 since he was seven years old, and graduated from Kwantlen Polytechnic University with a bachelor of journalism and minor in English.
鈥淚 love being able to work in my hometown and cover local events. We have some incredible people here in Aldergrove, and I look forward to working closely with the community,鈥 he shared.
Publisher Shaulene Burkett said she is excited for Emerson begin his new role as editor.
