Parents who have to work this pro-D day have the opportunity to sign up their kids in Grades 1 to 4 for a multi-sport program taking place in Aldergrove. 

Organized by PacificSports Fraser Valley, the Multi-Sport Pro-D Day program is tailored to young students to explore different sports throughout a day of activities, explained Teagan Johnstone community sport programs coordinator. 

"We run a few different sports throughout the session. We're also trying to incorporate more of a holistic approach so, in saying that, we do a connection circle at the beginning where we get to know each other," she said. 

The Friday, Oct. 25, program will be at Shortreed Community School on 28 Avenue, and runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This pro-D day will feature basketball, California kickball, and ringette. 

"We teach the basics for entry level on how to play with it, do some games. There's a lunch break before the next two sports," Johnstone said. 

"It's entry level... teaching the basic fundamental movement skills." 

Johnstone is also hoping to run after school programs in the winter. 

"It's nice for the parents who are working," she commented. 

The program has been offered in Aldergrove since 2021, initially beginning as a winter break camp but becoming a continuous program due to its popularity. 

"Aldergrove is where our [executive director] was born and raised, so it has a special spot in her heart. We had a connection with the school district, and it became a perfect match," Johnstone shared. 

Tickets are $25 per child, plus tax, and can be purchased online at . There is a maximum of 24 students for the program.
