Aldergrove farm's first farmers market featured alpacas

Kensington Prairie Farm plans to host another market in the future

Aldergrove's alpaca farm held its first farmers market on Aug. 17, and it was such a success there are plans for another one in the future.

Dee Milton, farm manager and granddaughter of Kensington Prairie Farm owners Jim Dales and Catherine Simpson, said they wanted to hold a market in honour of the usual Aldergrove summer farmers markets.

"Knowing how much work goes into putting on events, we were sad to know the community of Aldergrove was going to slow down on farmers markets," she said.

"As a way to honour our neighbours, community, and local farmers, we decided that we would host one market this summer with the hopes of bringing community together."

The market's beer garden went dry, farmers and vendors sold out, and record sales were made.

"All vendors, food trucks, and children were happy," Milton exclaimed.

Details are still being worked out, but Milton is confident the farm will host another market next year.
