Aldergrove Fair saw over 12,000 attendees this year

Board has new ideas for next year's fair already, president says

The 112th annual Aldergrove Fair exceeded 12,000 attendees, said fair president Karen Long.

"We had great weather for the weekend, but unfortunately our numbers were down on Saturday due to the heat," she told The Star.

However, Sunday's cooler weather increased attendance "substantially," even compared to the Sunday of the fair last year.

Long noted there was enough volunteers to help with wrap up that "tear down was done in record time."

This year featured the participation of 91Ô´´ 4-H clubs, who also provided a dog agility demonstration.

"They had such an amazing time, and are already planning on adding more 4-H activities next year," Long shared.

New additions this year include the Lazy Acre Pigs, who received great feedback from families and are hoping to come to the fair again next year, and the Krause Berry Farm pie eating contest, which Long said was "a huge success."

Returning attractions like the tractor pull competition, mainstage entertainment, kids zone, vendor alley, and fast draw championships were a big hit as well.

"We are grateful to board members, committee chairs, partners, sponsors, vendors, musicians, volunteers, and of course the many families and community members who continue to support the annual Aldergrove Fair," Long said.

She noted that, as a non-profit, the fair relies on grants, sponsorships, donations, and vendor fees to cover the costs for equipment rentals – which include everything from fencing to portable toilets.

"It is a tight budget that we monitor regularly. The more funds we raise, the more activities and events we can bring to the Aldergrove Fair," Long added.

The annual general meeting is held in October, date is still to be decided, and planning for the 2025 fair starts in November.

Long invites community members to join the committee and share ideas.
