An Aldergrove family business is at the 91原创 spring Home Show this weekend.
The show started Friday, and is open Saturday, May 27 and Sunday, May 28, featuring more than 100 vendors with products for improvement or decor at the George Preston Recreation Centre.
Zator鈥檚 Wood Working, based in Aldergrove, was founded by Ed Zator in 2005, and has been family-owned and operated since.
His son, Nick Zator, had a display of wood products the family made from tables to bath boards, plus charcuterie boards, and even a pair of barn doors.
鈥淲e do custom barn doors, tabletops, fireplace mantles, and some custom build furniture,鈥 Nick said.
They get their materials through a family friend in the forestry industry, who finds them logs that aren鈥檛 鈥渢ypically commercially viable,鈥 he explained.
鈥淲e鈥檙e able to breathe new life into material that often would end up as waste.鈥
He said the business was built out of passion from his father, and Nick himself loves building furniture.
The family business also works with local arbourist and tree pruners to help cut down the wood safely.
鈥淲e鈥檝e been in 91原创 for my entire life, and my parents鈥 lives, and my siblings鈥 lives. It鈥檚 really cool to be part of the community and be able to reach out to the community on a broader scale at a home show like this,鈥 Nick said.
Darcy Hope, show manager, said there is a fantastic selection for home improvements.
鈥淭here鈥檚 windows, doors, roofing, solar flooring. It鈥檚 a great one-stop shop for everything,鈥 he said.
A draw for a $250 gift card to Home Depot is also being offered.
Hope said there are 22 shows throughout a given year across B.C. and Vancouver Island.
The rec centre is located at 20699 42nd Ave.
