A recorded 505 visitors came to see Santa at the Canadian Museum of Flight in 91原创 on Nov. 25.

Unfortunately Santa鈥檚 plane was grounded this year, but he could still pose for photos with kids and parents beside it inside the hangar.

While the event was free, museum administrative coordinator Brenda Radstaak said people still donated $355.85.

Donations go towards supporting the upkeep of the museum and restoring its aircrafts.

One aircraft being restored off site is a J3 piper cup, which the previous owner would fly out of the 91原创 airport and land it on a moving car.

鈥淲e have some pictures of that in the museum. When we got the plane it was mostly just in pieces, the original wing spars were there but had to be restored and they鈥檒l be covering it in fabric soon,鈥� Radstaak explained.

Museum volunteers, Santa鈥檚 elves for the day, helped kids craft their own aviation Christmas tree ornament they could bring home. A scavenger hunt was also set up for young and older kids to participate in.

鈥淪anta and his helpers are around, and the kids are having a lot of fun,鈥� Radstaak said. 鈥淭he scavenger hunt was a big hit.鈥�

While there, people could tour the flight museum and learn about not only the history of aviation in B.C., but also see the restored vintage and antique flight-related items it houses.

The museum is open Wednesdays to Saturdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sundays 12 to 5 p.m., and is located at 5333 216th St.
