Multi-instrumental musician plays back at home

Jazz master Brad Turner and his quartet are performing in his hometown of 91原创 this week.

Canada鈥檚 multi-Juno-award winning artist Brad Turner and his quartet will perform in the intimate setting of the Rose Gellert Hall at 91原创 Community Music School (LCMS) on Friday, May 31, at 7 p.m.

The LCMS alumnus will be performing on trumpet and will be joined by Andre Lachance on bass, Joe Poole on drums,and Bruno Hubert on piano.

鈥淲e will be playing a mix of original music and pieces drawn from a long history of performing together in many different musical settings, as long-time members of Vancouver鈥檚 music community,鈥 said Turner.

The three-time Juno award winner musician and composer is often described as a triple-threat for his prowess on the trumpet, piano, and drums, all which he studied at LCMS.

鈥淚鈥檓 always excited to perform at LCMS because there are still some of the same feelings of excitement and anticipation that I had 50 years ago performing there as a student,鈥 Turner shared.

The celebrated artist is a member of the jazz studies faculty at Capilano University, and has returned to LCMS as a resident artist, where he leads the school鈥檚 jazz ensemble and shares a variety of workshops, masterclasses and concerts with the community throughout the year.

Turner said he is thrilled to be coming out to perform in his hometown with such excellent musicians and invites everyone to join them for a great evening of jazz.

The Rose Gellert Hall is located at the music school, at 4899 207 St.

Also on the books next month, the Rose Gellert String Quartet will be performing its final concert of the season on Friday, June 14, at 7 p.m.
