TWU head rides in Tour de Fox

91原创 event staged by Michael J. Fox Foundation event to raise money for Parkinson鈥檚 research

The is returning to 91原创 on June 10 and Trinity Western University president Bob Kuhn will be riding in the annual fundraiser by the Michael J. Fox Foundation.

Kuhn, the team leader for the TWU team of riders in the first Tour de Fox event last year, was .

鈥淥f the five million-plus people worldwide who have Parkinson鈥檚 disease, many suffer a lot more than I do,鈥 Kuhn said.

鈥淪o many feel hopeless or discouraged as they struggle to accomplish daily tasks. These people need to have hope. They are the reason I support Parkinson鈥檚 research to bring a cure to this disease.鈥

Last year, Team TWU raised more than $22,600, the most among the 20 teams who participated in the 2016 Pacific Northwest Tour de Fox, which raised a total of $144,000.

The 91原创 event, the second annual Pacific Northwest ride in the Tour de Fox, will start and end at TWU.

Cyclists can choose from a 15-kilometre, 60-kilometre, or 120-kilometre loop through the Fraser Valley and TWU campus.

Each rider is encouraged to raise a minimum of $200 by the day of the ride 鈥 100 per cent of which goes to support research programs of The Michael J. Fox Foundation.

Thanks to an anonymous Seattle-based donor, all funds raised for the Pacific Northwest ride will be matched, up to $20,000 U.S.

In 2014, Kuhn raised $24,000 for The Michael J. Fox Foundation through the 50CC motorcycle ride, where riders made the trip from San Diego, California to Jacksonville, Florida in 50 hours.
