Surrey RCMP are investigating a stabbing that happened Friday night (June 21) at a South Surrey gas station.

Police responded to a report of a stabbing shortly after 11:30 p.m. Friday in the 2700-block of 128 Street.

Preliminary investigation indicates the victim, a 19-year-old male, was at the gas station with friends when he was approached by a four unknown men, Surrey RCMP media relations said in an email.

A verbal altercation ensued, then the four suspects allegedly assaulted the victim before fleeing the area on foot. Although the Lower Mainland Police Dog Service (PDS) assisted, the suspects were not located.

When officers arrived on scene, they found the victim, who had sustained injuries consistent with a stab wound. He was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

"Officers are working to determine the motive and events that led up to this incident. Police have spoken with witnesses and seized CCTV footage as the investigation continues," the email said.

Anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed this incident is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP and quote file 2024-89654.
