The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has taken conduct of a fatal stabbing investigation in Surrey, with Surrey RCMP Serious Crime Unit investigators working closely to help.

After a late-night stabbing incident in Newton, Surrey RCMP responded to a complaint of a fight in the 6600-block of King George Boulevard shortly before midnight on Tuesday (July 23). When officers arrived, they found a male suffering from stab wounds.

Despite life-saving efforts from both frontline police officers and British Columbia Ambulance Service, the victim was declared dead at the scene, according to an RCMP release, with early indications showing the two individuals engaged in an altercation resulting in the victim being stabbed.

In a post on X Wednesday morning, IHIT noted their unit had been deployed to the scene.

Although the investigation is in its infancy, investigators believe this was an isolated incident between two individuals, an IHIT release noted.

The suspect is described as a white male, 6’ tall, and clean-shaven, with short, sandy blonde hair.

Investigators remained on scene Wednesday morning (July 24) to investigate; King George Boulevard has since re-opened to the public between 64 and 68 avenues.

Anyone who may have witnessed an altercation in the area at the time of the incident or has dash-camera footage, is asked to contact IHIT.

The IHIT Information Line is listed as 1-877-551-4448.
