A missing child was located safely on Sunday in Surrey.
The missing boy, 6, who is non-verbal, went missing while on a walk with his father Saturday evening (April 12) in the area of Northview Park. Surrey Police Service and RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit (SPOSU), along with dozens of search and rescue volunteers, searched for the child all night.
A command post was set up at Fraser Heights Secondary for the search efforts. The RCMP鈥檚 Urban Patrol Helicopter also assisting with the search, as well as K9 units, SPS Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton said at the school Sunday.
Shortly before 11 a.m. Sunday, SPS issued a release saying the boy has been located, "safe and sound."
Houghton thanked the public and media for their help, as well as rhe more than 100 search and rescue members from the South Fraser Search and Rescue Society, Coquitlam Search and Rescue Society, Mission Search and Rescue and others, including from as far away as Kimberly and Sparwood Search and Rescue Assist.
