Surrey Fire Service crews arrived to find a fully engulfed, two-car garage on fire Sunday morning.
At approximately 10:30 a.m. Sunday (March 30), Surrey firefighters responded to a fire in the14800-block of 103 Avenue, with heavy smoke and flames coming from a two-car garage located behind a home, as well as a shed that was on fire at the rear of the house, according to a photographer on scene.
Surrey Fire Service assistant fire chief Greg McRobbie confirmed 20 firefighters fought the flames with four trucks.
"When crews arrived, they were able to mostly extinguish the fire from the exterior," he said, adding crews had to employ aerial operations to put fire out.
"There were no injuries. Crews were there until roughly 1 p.m."
McRobbie noted three people were displaced by the fire, as Fortis BC and BC Hydro shut down power and gas for safety reasons.
Materials around the garage and in the yard presented some access issues, he said, but the fire was ultimately extinguished.
The cause of the blaze will be determined through investigation.
Crews were able to prevent spread of the fire to other nearby homes.
