RCMP respond to early-morning targeted shooting in Chilliwack

Man suffered 'serious injuries' in shooting at Williams Street and Princess Avenue: RCMP

A man was seriously injured following an early-morning targeted shooting in Chilliwack.

It happened just before 1 a.m. on Friday, March 21 at the intersection of Williams Street and Princess Avenue. Police Dog Services also responded to the call.

The man who was shot was taken to hospital with serious injuries, RCMP said.

"The investigation is still in its early stages, but initial indications suggest that this is a targeted incident and there is no further risk to public safety," RCMP stated in a press release.

The road was blocked off for eight hours as police investigated. Roads were re-opened just before 9 a.m. A search warrant was to be conducted at a house at the corner of Williams and Princess.

Chilliwack RCMP鈥檚 Serious Crime Unit is leading the investigation and the public can expect to see a continued police presence in the area.
