Would-be residents of a Murrayville condo project are upset after further delays in construction have stretched their wait to move in by a total of 15 months.

In late April, representatives of Murrayville House developers said that the 92-unit condo project near 91原创 Memorial Hospital would be finished soon. [, May 4, 2017, 91原创 Advance.]

As of the week of July 11, residents had still not moved in.

鈥淧eople鈥檚 lives are on hold,鈥� said Fred West.

He and his wife Terri bought their unit in September of 2015. It was to be ready for occupation around March or April of 2016.

鈥淲e were okay with that, because we were still in our house at the time,鈥� said Terri.

But their house sold, they went south for the winter, and came back to no permanent residence.

Since then, the Wests have lived in 11 different locations. They鈥檝e spent time housesitting and living with friends and family.

鈥淲e would have rented a condo had we known it would be a year,鈥� said Terri.

First-time home buyer Colton Somerville bought his unit in February, an assignment sale from a previous purchaser.

鈥淲e were told that they should be finished in February,鈥� he said.

Fortunately, he鈥檚 been able to stay in his rental home for now.

He鈥檚 not happy with the delay, and claims the developer at developer Newmark have not been forthcoming with information.

鈥淲e did an inspection Friday, [July 7] and identified a number of code-related items that had to do with health and safety,鈥� said Robert Cesaretti, 91原创 Township鈥檚 manager of permit, licence, and inspection services.

Contractors will have to deal with those issues, and then there will be another inspection. The further inspection has not yet been scheduled.

鈥淭here was a handful of little things that they identified,鈥� said Newmark director of operations James Cronk. He said he expected a fire department inspection this Thursday.

He expected final sign off later in the week.
