2 found dead inside burning car after vehicle rollover crash in Surrey

Highway 99 in Surrey remained closed between 16 and 32 avenues during Monday's commute (Nov. 18) due to a fatal rollover crash.

Two people are dead after a motor vehicle crash on Highway 99 in Surrey, police stated in an update Monday morning.

Highway 99 remains closed northbound between 16 Avenue and 32 Avenue Monday morning (Nov. 18) due to a fatal rollover crash that has killed two people, according to Surrey RCMP.

Police and fire responded to the scene in the 2800-block of Highway 99, finding a vehicle fully engulfed with the driver and a passenger inside, deceased.

A Surrey RCMP release about the fatal vehicle rollover was distributed shortly before 5 a.m. An updated press release issued before noon said the crash took place around 3:30 a.m.

"Police are working to identify the victims in this collision," the release reads.

RCMP are advising commuters plan ahead, avoid the area and use alternate routes as it is unknown how long the closures will remain in effect.

Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fatal collision, with police appealing for information from the public. Any witnesses or those who may have dash camera footage to the incident are asked to contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.
