A fundraising effort has been launched for the victim of a in South Surrey July 11.
Baljinder Bhandal created a page dedicated to the young woman, who was ejected from the vehicle in the collision. Investigation of the scene caused a major shutdown of Highway 99 in South Surrey that lasted several hours.
"It is with a heavy heart that I share the tragic news of an international student Saniya. She arrived in Canada on July 9, 2024, full of hope and excitement for a bright future. Tragically, on the early morning of July 11, 2024, she was involved in a fatal accident on Surrey 99 Highway and passed away at the tender age of 19," the GoFundMe states.
Family is now faced with "the heart-wrenching task of bringing her body back to India so she can rest in peace among her loved ones," it continued, adding that the costs associated with the task are "overwhelming."
"We are reaching out to you, our friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers, for support. Any contribution, no matter how small, will help us cover the expenses of sending Saniya's body back to India and providing her with a proper farewell."
The collision was one of that recently killed 18 people within six days.
