Fire at mobile home and RV park in Surrey deemed 'suspicious'

A trailer at the Plaza Mobile Home & RV Park was on fire

Fire crews in Surrey quickly extinguished a fire at a mobile home and RV park Thursday (June 20), Assistant Fire Chief Darren Major said.

Over 15 firefighters responded to a call of a trailer fire around 5:30 p.m. in the 8200-block of King George Boulevard.

"The fire was contained to a travel trailer that was parked kind of as a year-round resident in the Plaza Mobile Home and RV park," Major said. Crews were able to contain the fire and limit damage to the adjacent RVs.

The Surrey RCMP said the fire is "being treated as suspicious" and are investigating. No injuries were reported.

While not applicable to this fire, Major wanted to remind the public to make sure they have smoke alarms installed in their homes and that they are tested and fully operational.
