The first-ever player signed by the Abbotsford Canucks and the only captain in team history has re-signed with the club for two more seasons.

The Canucks announced a two-year extension for the 24-year-old on Wednesday (June 19).

Wouters became the first player to sign under the Abbotsford Canucks banner on July 22, 2021 and then was named the franchise's inaugural team captain on Oct. 13, 2022.

We are thrilled that Chase has committed to leading this team and continuing to develop within our organization.鈥�

Wouters, a forward, has collected 66 points in 196 games with the Canucks and is the franchise leader in regular season games played (196) and playoff games played. This past season saw Wouters establish a new career-high in goals with nine. He also scored three points in six playoff games.

Wouters was the longest serving captain in the history of the Western Hockey League鈥檚 Saskatoon Blades, wearing the 鈥淐鈥� from 2018-19 to 2020-21. He recorded 181 points in 280 career games with the Blades. His number 44 was retired and hangs in the rafters inside the SaskTel Centre.
