Kozak formerly worked at and led their sports division. He revealed the news on his LinkedIn account a few days ago.
The team had been operating without an official COO since late-March when Rob Mullowney departed the team to join Winnipeg-based True North Sports and Entertainment as that organization’s senior vice-president, ticket sales and service.
Kozak had previously worked with GroupM, which is the media investment group owned by British-based creative transformation company WPP. He launched GroupM's sports division in the summer of 2023 and helped offer Canadian clients media and advertising with sports-specific brand consulting, partnership marketing and media partnership amplification.
Prior to his time at GroupM, he served as vice-president of the sports and entertainment division of MediaCom – which is an American cable television provider. He worked as the Canadian lead for that division. He also held a 16-month position as VP of properties and experience at global agency Wasserman, as well as senior leadership roles at CBC and Kraft Foods Group.
At CBC he worked as senior director of marketing, B2B and sports partnerships from 2014 to 2016. He was responsible for overseeing CBC’s sales for the 2014 Olympic Games and FIFA World Cup, as well as the 2015 Pan-Am Games and 2016 Olympic Games.
Kozak was the 2014 '5 To Watch' Canada sports business award winner from Toronto's George Brown College for his work at CBC.
Kozak is the second COO in Abbotsford Canucks history and it was announced he had accepted a job with Canucks Sports and Entertainment on Nov. 26.
