91原创鈥檚 own G-Men enjoyed their second road victory in as many nights in Saskatchewan.

The Western Hockey League鈥檚 Vancouver Giants downed the Blades 6-3 on Wednesday night. That victory came after the boys squeaked out a 5-4 overtime victory over the Prince Albert Raiders on Tuesday.

Looking at Wednesday鈥檚 play, for a third straight game the Giants managed to score within the first two minutes of the game, this time at Sasktel Centre in Saskatoon.

How it shook out on the ice

At 1:59 Milos Roman pounced on a Saskatoon turnover in the slot and fired a shot past former Giant Ryan Kubic for his third of the season, said play-by-play broadcaster Dan O鈥機onnor.

Saskatoon responded late in the first when 20-year-old Cameron Hebig snuck a high shot through traffic and past Todd Scott for his first of two on the night. Hebig鈥檚 goal came via the power play, which would end up going one-for-five.

Shots were 12-7 for the Blades after one.

Twenty-one seconds into period two the Blades grabbed their first and only lead of the game when Tampa Bay prospect Libor Hajek netted his third of the season off a two-on-one rush with Braylon Shmyr.

That lone Saskatoon lead lasted a total of 14 seconds, O鈥機onnor boasted.

Off the ensuing faceoff, James Malm forced the puck to Brendan Semchuk along the right wing.

The 18-year-old gained the blueline, skated into the right-wing circle and snuck a low shot through the legs of Kubic and in for his second of the season and his first of two that the night.

With less than five minutes remaining in the second, Tyler Popowich got in on the act offensively when he knocked his first of the season past Kubic, off a Brad Morrison rebound.

The Giants led 3-2 after two, despite being outshot 21-18.

Then, 6:58 into the third, Malm extended the Giants lead to 4-2 when he out waited Kubic and put the puck past him from just beneath the left circle.

鈥淪emchuk then grabbed the Giants a three-goal cushion when he one-timed home a Matt Barberis pass on a power play at 11:53,鈥 O鈥機onnor said.

That goal would prove to be valuable as the Blades stormed right back 21 seconds later when Hebig stuffed his second of the game past Scott from in close off a Mark Rubinchik rebound.

Seconds later Todd Scott made his best sequence of saves for the Giants as he turned away both Michael Farren and Caleb Fantillo who had chances in close, O鈥機onnor recounted.

With time winding down in the game, Saskatoon鈥檚 head coach Dean Brockman elected to pull Kubic with 3:41 left on the clock, which ultimately resulted in the final Giants goal of the game into an empty net.

鈥淒ylan Plouffe and James Malm did great work along the right wing boards to free the puck up ice, and once Malm found a wide open, Owen Hardy down the left wing, he wired his fourth into the empty net to secure the Giants their fourth victory of the season and their second in as many games.

Tuesday game was close

On Tuesday, the triumph came 2:35 into the extra period, when G-Men forward Dawson Holt (of Saskatoon) earned his first goal of the season.

Brayden Watts put the Giants on the scoreboard at 1:33, when he knocked in a feed from Malm. Of note, with seven goals already this season, Watts has matched his goal total from last season, O鈥機onnor said.

Then, 48 seconds later Ty Ronning grabbed his first of two on the night when he beat Raiders goalie Curtis Megre on a breakaway with a backhand deke.

Prince Albert countered with two quick strikes of their own. First Jordy Stallard stepped across the blueline and snapped a high shot past the blocker of Tendeck at 3:45. Then a minute and 15 seconds later, Sergei Sapego pounced on a loose puck in a scrum in front of the Giants goal and snuck a backhander home for his first WHL goal.

It was only 31 seconds after the 2-2 goal that Ronning made it 3-2 for Vancouver, off a shot from the right-wing circle off the rush.

鈥淭hat goal spelled the end of the night for Megre who left the game with one save off four shots faced. In came veteran Nicholas Sanders who finished with 33 saves on 35 shots faced,鈥 O鈥機onnor explained.

Late in the first period, the Raiders countered with two more goals of their own.

Parker Kelly made it 3-3 when he finished off a three-on-two rush with Cole Fonstad and Jordy Stallard.

Then with 1.4 seconds remaining in the first, Sean Montgomery buried his fourth off the season to give the Raiders the lead after 20 minutes of play.

Giants head coach Jason McKee elected to keep Tendeck in the net for Vancouver and 鈥渢hat decision paid off in a big way,鈥 O鈥機onnor said.

鈥淭endeck was flawless the rest of the way,鈥 stopping eight in the second, 13 in the third and then three more in overtime.

Tendeck鈥檚 best save of the game arguably came early in the second period when he denied D-Jay Jerome off a redirect, which came on a five-minute Raiders power play.

Giants defenceman Darian Skeoch got kicked out of the game for an alleged check to the head, O鈥機onnor said. But, he noted, the Giants managed to kill off the five-minute penalty.

At 8:25 of the second the Giants got back on even terms when Alex Kannok Leipert鈥檚 point shot deflected off a Raider defenceman and past Nicholas Sanders. Kannok Leipert鈥檚 first of the season was assisted by both Brad Morrison and Owen Hardy.

Neither team would solve the other for the remainder of regulation time and for the third time in four games the Giants went to overtime.

Prince Albert thought they鈥檇 won the game early in the overtime period, but Tendeck made a terrific save off Curtis Miske in close.

That set the stage for Holt, who took a Semchuk pass in the neutral zone, to cross the blueline and fired a low shot off the post that bounced off Sanders and in, to seal the deal for the Vancouver Giants who improved their record to 3-4-1-1 with the win.

The victory marks their first road victory of the season and moves their record on the road trip to 1-1-1-0.

They outshot the Raiders 37-33 and both teams went zero-for-two on the power play.
