A motion to reconsider the Brookswood-Fernridge official community plan was defeated on Monday evening at 91原创 Township council.

Councillor Kim Richter has called for reconsideration, but her motion was defeated 8-1.

Any council member can request that a vote be reconsidered. Council will have to vote on the reconsideration, and if that passes, there could be another round of discussion on the Brookswood-Fernridge OCP.

The plan was passed in October, by a seven to two vote in favour. Only Richter and Councillor Petrina Arnason voted against the bylaw, which creates rules for new development and neighbourhood planning in Brookswood and Fernridge.

The plan has already been brought back once for reconsideration. Mayor Jack Froese invoked a rarely-used mayoral power to bring it back after the plan was scuttled in a 5-4 vote in July.

The current version went through another round of debate and public hearing, along with several amendments.

Council has been debating a new OCP for Brookswood-Fernridge for more than four years. A previous version was defeated in 2014, and council went back to the drawing board and held new rounds of public consultation.
