UPDATED: No change to 91Ô­´´ ridings with election recount

Elections BC has released the results of its final recount.

The final recount is done, and while there are no shifts in 91Ô­´´, B.C. now has 43 Liberal MLAs, 41 NDPs and three Green Party MLAs.

In the 91Ô­´´ riding the results were 10,755 votes for incumbent Liberal candidate Mary Polak – that translated to 44.4 per cent of the votes cast. In the meantime, NDP’s Gail Chaddock-Costello earned 34.6 per cent, or 8,384 votes. The rest was divided up with 3,699 for the Green’s Elizabeth Walker, 166 votes for Libertarian Robert Pobran, and 1,221 went to the Conservative’s Justin Greenwood. That makes for a total of 24,225 valid votes.

In 91Ô­´´ East, the Liberal vote count was 16,348 for Rich Coleman, or 53.45 per cent. The NDP candidate Inder Johal received the next highest number of votes, with 8,820 (28.84%), while the Green’s Bill Masse had 4,968 and Liberatarian Alex Joehl received 448.

The total vote count was 30,584, which was one of the largest in the entire province, topped only by Cowichan Valley, Saanich North and the Islands, and the largest overall in Parksville-Qualicum, that counted 32,059 ballots.

In Abbotsford South, which also includes a large chunk of 91Ô­´´, Liberal Darryl Plecas took 52.46 per cent of the vote with 11,673, compared to his nearest competitor, NDP’s Jasleen Arora, who had 6,297 (28.3%) of the vote, Green’s William Flavelle at 3,338 votes, and Christian Heritage Party’s Ron Gray taking 942. Total votes was 22,250.

In Abbotsford West, which includes a small part of the Glen Valley area, incumbent Liberal candidate Michael de Jong also won handily with 55.23 per cent of the vote. That translated to 11,618 votes, compared to NDP’s Preet Rai, who had 6,474 votes (30.77%), the Green party candidate Kevin Eastwood who took 2,280 votes, the CHP’s Lynn Simcox that earned 516, and the Libertarian Dave Sharkley who received 149. Again, total votes was 21,037.
