91Ô´´ RCMP are investigating speed and impairment as possible causes for the Highway 1 crash on Saturday night, Nov. 30, that resulted in the eastbound lane being closed to traffic.
Just after 10 p.m., police and paramedics responded to a multi-vehicle crash involving five vehicles in the eastbound lane of Highway 1 between 232 and 264 Streets.
"Only minor injuries were suffered," said Cst. Simone Lepine with the 91Ô´´ RCMP.
The eastbound lane was closed until just after midnight as tow trucks removed all five vehicles.
Lepine encourages drivers to "drive to the conditions of the road" – including low lighting.
He added that Mounties will be out from now and into the weeks after Christmas to enforce impaired driving laws.
Counterattack programs are run every year in an attempt to dissuade drivers from drinking and getting behind the wheel in the first place, and to take those who do off the roads before they hurt themselves or someone else.
