LETTER: Penny and pound clarification

A 91原创 Advance reader points out a flaw in English translations.

Dear Editor,

Thanks to Bob Groeneveld for the amusing column [, March 29, 91原创 Advance] 鈥榤etricizing鈥� English expressions.

But Bob should know that the pound in the expression 鈥榠n for a penny, in for a pound鈥� refers to currency, not weight.

So the proper 鈥榤etricization鈥� would be 鈥榠n for a penny, in for $1.81鈥� based on the current exchange with the pound sterling.
