Dear Editor,

In reference to Jacqueline McLean鈥檚 [Christmas isn鈥檛 finished, Dec. 26, 91原创 Advance], I would just like to make a little historical correction.

Jesus was not 鈥渂aptized鈥 eight days after his birth, he was circumcised according to the Law of Moses.

He was 鈥渂aptized鈥 at about age 30, by John the Baptist, in the Jordan River.

I am a Christian and I like Christmas, especially for children, but realize that it was not the time of Jesus鈥 birth because shepherds were outside with their flocks. The birth would have been in the spring.

Also, Caesar Augustus would not have ordered a general tax in the middle of winter when the people would have had difficulty travelling to the towns of their birth.

I applaud Ms. McLean for taking God鈥檚 gift to the world seriously, as I do.
