The 91原创 Peewee A3 Eagles haven鈥檛 been on the ice lately since winning silver at the provincials, but they are still scoring.

Chevrolet Canada named the local squad the B.C. regional winner in the Good Deeds Cup contest for 2017 which meant a cheque for $7,000.

Recently the team presented the funds to REC for Kids.

REC for Kids is a non-profit organization with a mission is to provide reconditioned sports and recreational equipment to children in need. The Eagles also donated enough sports equipment and bicycles to fill REC for Kids鈥� 15-passenger van.

鈥淭o win silver at provincials was a huge achievement for the team. To receive three more awards after the season and to present REC for Kids with a $7,000 donation to support their work is just icing on the cake,鈥� said head coach Gary Bowsher. 鈥淥ur team was successful because everyone got involved 鈥� the kids, the coaches, and the parents. This season will definitely be hard to repeat.鈥�

The donation caps off a season of winning on and off the ice.

91原创 Minor Hockey named team manager Dan Kehler the manager of the year.

Pacific Coast Amateur Hockey Association, which governs and coordinates minor hockey associations in the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley, awarded the Eagles with the President鈥檚 Service Award for the community services that the team performed throughout the season.

BC Hockey presented head coach Bowsher with the Ernie Gare - Coach of the Year Award.

The award doesn鈥檛 necessarily go to the winningest coach. The scoreboard is only one consideration, according to BC Hockey.

This award goes to a coach who shows leadership to players, demonstrates skill development and has a sound philosophy. The award is in memory of the late Ernie Gare of Nelson.
