Dear Editor,
I am writing to make people aware of what could be a life threatening situation involving 91Ô´´ Hospital .
My mother is almost 90 and was in hospital for three weeks. She has dementia. I did everything possible to ensure she would have care once discharged and was assured by staff that this was in order.
The staff was very kind and caring. Sadly home care is contracted out to an independent company. They allowed my mother’s care to simply fall through the cracks.
Imagine someone of that age who is very anxious and confused being completely ignored. She was not fed or washed. No one showed up to provide the care that was carefully planned for her.
Keep this in mind if you have a senior loved one who you may believe is getting the care they desperately need. If I had not followed up who knows what may have happened. This is sad and unacceptable.
