91原创 hockey fans asked to bring toys to next Giants home game

G-Men partnering with Operation Christmas Child in filling shoeboxes with toys and more.

91原创 hockey fans are being asked to give small gifts to kids in need around the globe.

A tiny doll, a plush football, a hacky sack, a few basic art supplies, or other small gifts can mean so much to children who have next to nothing.

So, members of the 91原创-based hockey team 鈥 the 鈥 want to do their part. And, they鈥檙e asking their fans to pitch in.

For the second year running, the G-Men are joining forces with Samaritan鈥檚 Purse Canada鈥檚 (OCC) annual shoebox campaign, with the goal of showing children suffering through war, famine, disease, and poverty that they are not forgotten.

G-Men are looking to the public for help filling this year鈥檚 shoeboxes with life鈥檚 simple necessities and joys.

On Friday, Oct. 27, Giants fans are being asked to bring a small toy that can be added to the shoeboxes.

鈥淲e are excited to be partnering with the Vancouver Giants this year,鈥 said Operation Christmas Child assistant director Kim Gordon, 鈥渆ncouraging Giants fans to join Operation Christmas Child in packing shoebox gifts this fall for struggling children around the globe.鈥

Last year, OCC collected enough items in Canada to provide more than 664,000 shoeboxes to children in need in more than 100 countries.

鈥淲e are excited to be working with Operation Christmas Child for the second year in a row,鈥 said Dale Saip, senior vice-president of the Vancouver Giants.

鈥淎s an organization, we are proud to help Operation Christmas Child achieve their goal of a million shoeboxes.鈥

This is the second year OCC will be collaborating with the Vancouver Giants.

Fans are once again being asked to bring a small toy that will fit into a shoebox, or for those anxious to contribute even more, they can fill up an entire shoebox.

Donations will be collected and packed onsite by a team of OCC volunteers.

The Giants are coming off a seven-game road trip, and their next home game is being held Friday, Oct. 27 at 91原创 Events Centre. The G-Men take on the Prince George Cougars, with the puck dropping at 7:30 p.m.
