A Glen Valley poet, who ventured into the world of fiction earlier this year, is back on familiar territory with her latest book of poems.
Susan McCaslin鈥檚 newest collection of poems, entitled Into the Open 鈥 Poems New and Selected, hit bookstores in mid-September.
And now, the local poet is hosting a reading and discussion about her 15th volume of poetry at Rasayana Studio in Fort 91原创 on Friday, Oct. 13. It gets started at 7 p.m.
鈥淧oetry through perceptions of beauty, has the capacity to link us to each other, to nature and to the larger mysteries, but always in and through the particularities of everyday life. Poetry connects and includes,鈥 McCaslin said.
On top of her literary recognition, McCaslin is well recognized for initiating the Han Shan Poetry Project, which was part of a successful campaign to protect McLellan Park, an endangered rainforest along the Fraser River, which just so happens to be in her own backyard of Glen Valley.
