91原创 Olympians Swim Club, based out of Walnut Grove Community Centre year-round, is back in the water for the 2017-18 season, and new assistant head coach Zachary Haw is inviting more aspiring competitive swimmers to consider joining.
He described the club as one of the top in Canada, and the only all-year clubs in 91原创.
鈥淭he 2016-17 season filled LOSC with lots of successes,鈥 he said, pointing at Hillary Metcalfe, Josie Field, Bailey Herbert, and Joshua Kim representing 91原创 at the Canadian Trials this April. As well, Metcalfe was a finalist at that meet and Field competed in the consolation finals.
That was followed by Field, Herbert, and Kim winning medals at the Western Canadian Championships in Calgary in April.
At the Canadian Senior Nationals, Metcalfe swam to a fourth place finishes.
During the Canada Summer Games, Herbert break a provincial record for 13-14 girls in the 200 IM with a time of 2:18.27. The old record was set by FINA World Championship Medalist Emily Overholt.
Also of note, Herbert was also a gold medalist in 200 & 400 IM, and Kim won medals in all his relay events.
鈥淟OSC swimmers also swam in various international, national, provincial, and invitational meets,鈥 Haw explained. 鈥淭his year, LOSC wants you to be part of the success.鈥
They offer programs of once a week (or more) after schools or evenings for swimmers five to18 years old.
Beginner through advanced swimmers can learn the fundamentals of competitive swimming with opportunities to compete and have fun, he insisted.
LOSC also offers an adult masters program for adults 19 years and older who want train for fitness, recreation or competition.
鈥淲hether you are a former swimmer or new to competitive swimming, LOSC offer programs for both,鈥 Haw said.
The club offers a free two-week trial.
