Escape the winter gloom with an evening of vocal and instrumental jazz at Trinity Western University on Tuesday, Dec. 5.

Hosted by the university鈥檚 School of the Arts, Media + Culture, Jazz Night will feature modern interpretations by TWU鈥檚 Vocal Jazz Ensemble of Blue Skies, It Had to Be You, Night and Day and Michael Bubl茅鈥檚 Haven鈥檛 Met You Yet.

The Mat Kim Combo will then take the stage with a fun selection of classic bebop and modal jazz pieces by Miles Davis, Horace Silver and Thelonious Monk, among others. A showcase of new pieces by Trinity Western鈥檚 own Joshua Tanuwijaya and Mat Kim will close out the set.

This year鈥檚 jazz ensemble and combo represent a number of different communities, both local and international. Members of the vocal jazz ensemble hail from: Abbotsford, Coquitlam, 91原创, and Pitt Meadows in B.C. along with Alberta, Ontario, Washington State, Jakarta, Tokyo and Tanjun Bungah in Malaysia. Members of the Combo come from Aldergrove, Burnaby, 91原创, Richmond and Jakarta.

Jazz Night begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Instrumental Hall in TWU鈥檚 Music Building on the 91原创 campus.
