All three plays in the 鈥 2016-17 season scored are in the running for top prizes at the upcoming 2017 Community Theatre Coalition awards.

It鈥檚 rare to see one community theatre company in the running for awards for each of their productions, but the news has president Mary Renvall and her team 鈥渙ver the moon.鈥

91原创 Players鈥 three productions this past season were Parents Night/The Bigger Issue (two one-act plays by George F. Walker, that were presented together), Norman Foster鈥檚 Old Love, and John Lazarus鈥 The Grandkid.

鈥淲e鈥檙e all thrilled that all three of our productions were nominated this year. The quality of the other shows throughout the Lower Mainland was very high,鈥 said Renvall, who was production manager on the first two shows.

All three productions were nominated in the comedy or drama categories for best production, best director/s, and best actor and actress.

They have also received other nominations for best set design, sound design, and decoration, Renvall said.

She described last season as a year of mentorship on many levels for the local drama club. It was about sharing knowledge and creativity, Renvall said.

鈥淚鈥檓 so delighted for everyone involved. We are always excited for the shows to be nominated for the fine work as a team, getting nominated yourself is a whole other level of excitement,鈥 she concluded.
