Internationally acclaimed nature artist, Terry Isaac, will be making a guest appearance at 91原创 City鈥檚 Gallery 204 on June 10 from 5 to 8 p.m.
Isaac, a longtime fan of both animals and nature, will be donating a framed limited edition Gicl茅e print of Peek-a-Boo, a bobcat kitten batting a weed, as a raffle to benefit the 91原创 Animal Protection Society (LAPS).
His career started in the late 1980s after a recommendation from Robert Bateman, and his work was published by Mill Pond Press, the same company that Bateman was with.
鈥淚 draw my inspiration from observing nature, always on the lookout for 鈥榤agical moments,鈥欌 said Isaac in an artist鈥檚 statement.
鈥淪eeing a particular setting is what usually initially inspires me. I then consider which bird or mammal will go well with that scene.
鈥淚 like to capture particularity, avoid stylizing, and expose the uniqueness that everything in nature possesses.鈥
鈥淚 edit and manipulate the composition until I am satisfied, use abstract shapes and create a painting that has a sense of depth. I work background to foreground 鈥 general to specific, striving to create something that is captivating and pleasing to look at. I feel incredibly blessed to be able to do something I have such a passion and love for. As the show is titled, The Beauty of Nature, I know I always want my art to captures this essence.鈥
Isaac will also be doing a sold-out workshop at Gallery 204 on Sunday, June 11 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Both the show and workshop will be hosted by gallery owner Shelley Garries.
Gallery 204 is located upstairs in the Federal Building at 20408 Douglas Cres.
