Ten bucks is all it costs for families to experience old-time holiday activities.
The annual Pioneer Christmas happens again this year at the 91原创 Centennial Museum on Saturday, Dec. 8.
The local museum, owned by the Township, offers families a morning or afternoon session to travel back in time.
鈥淭he event has been happening each year since 2003, always with a consistent focus on the historical enjoyment of Christmas,鈥 explained Julie Epp, arts and culture programmer. 鈥淭hrough crafts and games, we are able to help the children understand a little bit more about how Christmas has evolved since pioneer times, and become the beloved holiday we enjoy today.鈥
The event is a local tradition.
There鈥檚 a morning session from 10 a.m. to noon and an afternoon session that runs 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Kids can try out pioneer and traditional crafts that young. They can check out pioneer toys.
They can also decorate a mini gingerbread house, and mail a letter to Santa at the historic post office. The event will include a reading of 鈥楾was the Night Before Christmas, and a visit and photos with jolly old St. Nick. Each child will receive a gift, and there鈥檚 a sale at the gift shop.
Adults can also explore the museum鈥檚 galleries while the kids play.

鈥淲e want to encourage families to join us because the activities and crafts this year are quite exciting,鈥 Epp said. 鈥淪anta will also be arriving with Mrs. Claus to read stories and take professional pictures with Santa pictures in museum.鈥
