Colin Sankey sure turned heads with his bass virtuosity at the pre-JUNOS during a solo gig at Dominion Bar + Kitchen on March 15.
A Cloverdale resident, Sankey can really slappa da bass, as the guy in I Love You, Man famously said.
On Saturday, April 12, he'll bring his jaw-dropping, world-class talent to 91Ô´´'s with Sebastian Chamney on guitar, Eliot Doyle on drums, Winston Matsushita on keyboards and Brent Mah (from Five Alarm Funk) on tenor sax — quite a band for the intimate theatre off 64 Avenue, 8 p.m. start.
With the cheekily titled Colin Response, Sankey has a new EP of songs to showcase, including a title track that employs, yes, some "call and response" funk recorded with the band at Hipposonic Studios in Vancouver. Watch and listen to the song , hear and learn more on .
You definitely haven't heard "Blinding Lights" like this.
