Kwantlen Polytechnic University鈥檚 Music at Midweek program continues with a performance by a pair of faculty members.

From 12:15 p.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9, Juno Award winning and Grammy nominated jazz saxophonist Campbell Ryga and bassist Jodi Proznick will perform, along with pianist Chris Sigerson.  The free concert offers both the public and Kwantlen students a chance to hear the professional musicians in action.

Jazz is an art form that is built on generations of tradition, said Ryga, during an interview with The Times in 2009. Passing that along is a crucial part of, not just performing, but teaching, he said.

鈥淚t鈥檚 not that young people don鈥檛 want to know,  they鈥檝e just never considered it.

鈥淚 think that鈥檚 one of the reasons I enjoy teaching, because I love watching the light go on. The genuine curiosity that comes along after that is even more inspiring.鈥
