Bigger is better at Fort Gallery

The artist run gallery on Glover Road presents At Large, a collection of larger works of art from Jan. 23 to Feb. 10

Counting six 91原创 artists presently among their membership, the 18 artists of Fort 91原创鈥檚 Fort Gallery could well have their intimate gallery bursting at the seams this week, as the collective hosts an exhibition of large works of art, created by its members.

For the second year in a row, the artists have chosen to go with the larger format 鈥 unusual for group shows at the Fort Gallery 鈥 as a counterpoint to their annual Christmas group show of small pieces, called Small Wonder.

鈥淚t鈥檚 a great opportunity, for visitors to sample a wide range of contemporary art in one venue鈥, said the gallery鈥檚 manager, Tim Fraser.

鈥淢any of the artists regularly paint on large canvasses for their own shows, but generally display small to medium paintings in our other group shows. Except for the glass and ceramic pieces, all of the works will be approximately 30-inches by 40-inches in size, or larger.鈥

This year鈥檚 show, titled At Large, will fill the walls of the gallery with colour, starting on Wednesday, Jan. 23.

Open to the public, the artist鈥檚 opening night reception is being held Friday, Jan. 25, at 7 p.m., then the show continues until Feb. 10, with the gallery open Wednesdays to Sundays, from noon to 5 p.m. at 9048 Glover Rd. in the centre of the Fort 91原创 village.
