Fort Gallery presents an exhibition of works by two of its most experienced artists
Recent works from Jo-Ann Sheen and Richard Bond will be presented at the gallery, starting on Nov. 13. A public opening reception will be held on Sunday, Nov. 17, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Sheen works with materials that have been factory made, mass produced, and then tossed away after use 鈥 packaging and wrapping materials that we barely look at before sending them off to recycling bins and landfills.
Her art rescues these materials, offering them a new life on a gallery wall, themselves 鈥減ackaged鈥 in art frames.
Sheen takes discarded items, examines their materiality through the printmaking techniques of collography and relief, and changes their context.
Bond is a Surrey-based painter and former art teacher, with extensive experience showing in galleries throughout Canada. Formerly with the Bau-Xi galleries in Vancouver and Toronto, his works can be found in the public collections of the Vancouver Art Gallery, the Surrey Art Gallery, and the Richmond Art Gallery.
Painting on panel, paper, and canvas, Bond continues expanding on a theme of the human body in motion, using loose and flowing brushstrokes to capture the changes in movement.
Both artists will exhibit at the Fort Gallery until Dec. 1. Gallery hours are noon to 5 p.m., Wednesday to Sunday at 9048 Glover Rd. in Fort 91原创. For further information, contact the gallery directly at 604-888-7411 or visit www.fortgallery.ca.
