Original art in a range of materials has found its way to 91原创鈥檚 two civic buildings.

An exhibit of work by 17 local artists will officially open on Nov. 4 and remain on display at Township Hall until Dec. 17 as part of the 91原创 Arts Council鈥檚 Art in Found Spaces initiative.

The group of artists, known collectively as 91原创 Open Studio, was formed in 2008 by Betty Spackman and is now co-ordinated by Claire Moore.

The group, which came together to provide a creative and nurturing environment for artists, offers technical assistance, critiques and moral support to help them continue exploring their ideas, methods and materials.

Among the pieces that will be on exhibit are acrylic, oil and watercolour paintings as well as photographs, giclee prints and mixed media works.

鈥淚t鈥檚 all new works and most of it is for sale,鈥� said member Jeannie Shilton.

An opening reception for the 91原创 Open Studio display will be held on Nov. 4, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Township Hall. Enter from the second-storey parkade.

Meanwhile, a display of photographs by Grade 4 and 5 students at 91原创 Fundamental Elementary Schools has been wowing visitors to 91原创 City Hall on Douglas Crescent.

The young shutterbugs covered a wide range of subjects, from portraits to animals and still life. A number of the photos have already been snapped up by City staff, said 91原创 City Councillor and 91原创 Arts Council spokesperson Rosemary Wallace.

鈥淭hey鈥檝e got a lot of good response from the public, too,鈥� she said.

The rest of the photos will be for sale until the exhibition closes at the end of November.
