Join drummer Michelle Duckett at the Fort Gallery on Sept. 7 from 7 to 9 p.m. for an evening of music.

Duckett, also known as Drumfoot or the Drum Whisperer, will be performing as part of the gallery鈥檚 鈥淔irst Thursday鈥� arts events. On the first Thursday of each month, the gallery hosts a variety of visual artists, writers, poets and musicians from the local community.

Duckett is known as an explorer and adventurer in the realm of music. She has been playing and teaching drums for over 25 years, and travelling all over the world playing with a variety of bands. Music has always been a metaphor in her life and rhythm the driving force to creativity. She currently plays with the band The Damn Chandelier.

Also featured at this month鈥檚 First Thursday are many of the artists from the gallery鈥檚 group textile exhibit, Textile Takes, which runs Aug. 30 to Sept. 17.
