Don Williams, one of the organizers, was directing cars to different parking spots to group them by model type and year.

鈥淪o we have all the newest cars from the C8s, the latest ones, to the 鈥58s,鈥 he explained, pointing at a row of classic convertibles.

鈥淭hese will probably be the oldest cars here,鈥 Williams predicted.

鈥淭oday we might have a 鈥57 come in but they鈥檙e getting quite rare.鈥

鈥淎s you notice all the cars are immaculate,鈥 he added. 鈥淭hese guys all take pride in their cars 鈥 except this guy,鈥 he quickly added, grinning as a friend rolled up.

鈥淭his year鈥檚 weather is much, much better.鈥

About 60 Corvettes made the trip to the lawn near the historic Fort orchard, including a restored red convertible driven by North Delta resident Greg Ballantyne, who explained how he got interested in the the classic cars.

鈥淢y sister-in-law had a 鈥66 convertible back when I was a teenager and she used to work for the boats, freighters. And so she鈥檇 throw me the keys and say Greg, I need you to look after my car for a couple of weeks. So I鈥檓 driving a 鈥66 convertible and I got hooked.鈥
