VIDEO: 91原创 charity鈥檚 donation drive comes up short

Kimz Angels founder still grateful for contributions

An earlier-than-usual donation drive by the 91原创-based raised $1,385 in cash donations and managed to fill one pickup truck with food contributions on Saturday, June 24 outside the Murrayville IGA store.

It was less than the filled-up ambulance and police cruiser charity founder Kim Snow had been hoping for, but she was still grateful.

At a time when the number of homeless, working poor, and low-income seniors needing the charity鈥檚 services has more than doubled, every bit helps, Snow explained.

鈥淚 want people to know we鈥檙e thankful,鈥 Snow told the 91原创 Advance Times.

Kimz volunteer Vince Ford said 鈥渨e鈥檝e been here usually on Christmas, but this year we need to pick up and get a little more food because the demand is getting greater out there.鈥

Snow estimated the overall number of clients the charity supports has risen from about 250 to substantially more than 500 since the COVID-19 pandemic began to ease.

Some of the new clients are people who donated in the past, Snow has noticed.

鈥淚t breaks my heart,鈥 she said.

As well, rising food prices and hikes in rental and other costs of living have meant people who still donate simply can鈥檛 spare as much, but are doing their best to help, Snow observed.

鈥淭here鈥檚 a lot of people out there who are struggling, but are still giving,鈥 Snow said.

鈥淭hey鈥檙e so kind.鈥

She is considering holding another donation drive soon.

鈥淲e can鈥檛 wait until Christmas,鈥 Snow commented.

鈥淲e鈥檙e desperate.鈥
