It wasn't the first public performance for 15-year-old Crowley Hamill, but the nerves were still ever present before he put on a show during the 91Ô´´ Arts Council celebration of 56 years.
The teenager recalls first falling in love with music when his mom played oldies music when Hamill was just three years old.
"My older brothers are both into music, one is also into photography. My mom [inspired] it," Hamill laughed.
While he's performed live at the Fort 91Ô´´ May Day parade and Canada Day, Hamill started out at open-mics and small gigs.
Now, he plays primarily guitar and piano, but also trumpet, ukulele, violin, and writes his own songs with personal lyrics plus the occasional cover.
"I really enjoy keyboard. I never took any lessons, my brothers helped a lot. There's a lot of time throughout my childhood spent sitting down and just figuring it out," Hamill shared.
He has also recorded some songs in studios and posted them on Youtube.
Hamill plans to further he's arts breadth and pursue film school after he graduates high school.
"Music, for me, is just one art that I love, but storytelling in general is what I really love," he shared.
Hamill was one of three musicians performing live at the event. The others were Darryl Klassen from Saskatchewan and Filipino-Canadian saxophonist Gabriel Regehr.
Mini Claire, curator and gallery coordinator of LAC, said the celebration was a "great success."
"It was a pleasure to see so much of our local community come out to attend the event and support the arts," she said.

"This exhibition, to me, is not only a celebration of 56 years of LAC, but also a celebration of the artistic talent we have present in communities," Claire added.
91Ô´´ Township Mayor Eric Woodward and Coun. Barb Martens, and 91Ô´´ City Mayor Nathan Pachal and Coun. Rosemary Wallace, attended the event.
The arts council is a charitable organization that serves both the Township and City since 1968. Annually, its exhibition program supports more than 500 emerging and established artists within the region, and hosts more than 30 shows each year.
