Despite an atmospheric river that forced a last-minute move indoors, and a power outage as they arrived at the new location,  91原创's first World Singing Day (WSD) event went ahead Saturday, organized by Peace Arch Chorus, a 91原创-based a capella choir.

鈥淲orld Singing Day, which began in 2011, is a day and an action meant to bring the world together in harmony, and harmony certainly is something the world needs more of right now鈥, said Peace Arch member Sharon von Hollen. 鈥淢usic has the unique power to bring together people of all ages and backgrounds. Music is universal in its appeal & its effect鈥 said von Hollen.

鈥淎round the world on this day, people will be singing with friends and family, in pubs, parks and homes, or singing with the whole community in the center of town, as we will do in 91原创,鈥 said von Hollen.

鈥淚t just feels good to sing! Research shows that when we sing, our bodies release those feel-good endorphins, and singing with others increases our personal sense of community connection.  Music is great for our well-being.

World Singing Day is a global sing-along held annually on the 3rd Saturday in October.

Founded by Colorado musician Scott Johnson, World Singing Day aims to bring people together in their communities all around the world by singing together.

WSD Song-of-the-Year that everyone was invited to learn was a medley of 鈥淲e are the World鈥 and 鈥淚magine鈥.  You can find out more about World Singing Day and learn this year鈥檚 song at
