Ten kids will each get a free week at Pacific Riding for Developing Abilities, thanks to determined participants in a soaking-wet pre-Halloween competition at Township 7 Winery in 91Ô´´, held during the first atmospheric river of the season.
Township 7 manager Cody Karman was applauded when he revealed what partial proceeds from the annual event would be used for.
"For everyone who [bought] tickets, we are donating a portion of that, to Pacific Riding for Developing Abilities. PRDA is just around the corner from us," Karman explained as rain pelted a large portable shelter set up for the event on Saturday, Oct 19.
91Ô´´'s Township 7 Winery wasn't kidding when they said the grape stomp competition and charitable fundraiser would proceed, rain or shine on Saturday, Oct. 19.

Pacific Riding for Developing Abilities is a not-for-profit, therapeutic equestrian riding centre based on a 15 acre facility on the edge of Campbell Valley Regional Park that serves a "wide range of diverse cognitive and/or physical abilities, starting as young as 2 years of age," its explains.
It is the largest therapeutic equestrian facility in Canada, providing therapy for up to 150 riders a week.
"PRDA is just around the corner from us," Karman explained. "They provide equestrian therapy to guests all over the Lower Mainland. Because of what you've all come out today to do, we have given 10 kids a week of free riding."
"We know the weather's a bit of a challenge, but we're so glad that you were willing to go forward with this with us." Karman told the competitors.
"And I hope that you can enjoy it."
Stomping was under cover of the shelter, as participants in rain gear collected the results into bottles just outside.
Two teams emerged as winners: Alice in Wine-derland took Best Costume and Planet of the Grapes won Top Team Spirit.
