It was the 13th annual Christmas tea fundraiser presented by the Thank You for Caring Society in 91原创, and the Cascades Casino ballroom was packed Sunday afternoon, Nov. 26.
Society director Donna McCreadie said with 400 attending, it was the non-profit society鈥檚 first full house since the pandemic.
鈥漌e are sold out for the first time since COVID,鈥 McCreadie told the 91原创 Advance Times. Sunday, as participants of all ages 鈥 most of them dressed to the nines in formal dress and many wearing high-fashion 鈥渇ascinators鈥 and other stylish headgear 鈥 filed past a display of silent auction items in the foyer to take their seats for a boxed high tea.
It鈥檚 a fun excuse to dress up and do some good, she added.
鈥淓verybody鈥檚 together again,鈥 smiled McCreadie.
鈥淚t鈥檚 for families, mainly, to just come together to kick off the Christmas season.鈥

It was originally started in 2012 by Debbie Froese, the late wife of then-91原创 Township mayor Jack Froese, as a small meet-and-greet at their home.
The next year, Charlene Fassbender, wife of then-91原创 City mayor, Peter Fassbender came aboard and the two hosted what was then called the Mayors Wives鈥 Tea, at the Fort 91原创 Golf Course, to benefit the 91原创 Christmas Bureau and other charities.
It has raised close to $300,000 since 2013, evolving into the non-profit , and supporting the 91原创 Christmas Bureau as well as 91原创 Lodge, 91原创 Foundry, the Starfish Backpack Program, and Youth Hub.
Fassbender remains on the society board of directors.
